What is EcoSmart™? EcoSmart™ is the first range of green cases offered by Targus EMEA. What is recycled PET? The main material on the case is made from recycled PET. This is one of the most common packaging materials used in the open market. The recycled plastic products are crushed, pressed into bales, shredded and refined into PET chips. The chips are then processed to create yarn which is then used to make fabric. How many plastic bottles does it take to make enough main material for each of the EcoSmart case styles? The number of PET recycled bottles used to manufacture enough fabric for the main material of each case is as follows:- TCC017EU = 28 x 16oz/500ml bottles TET021EU = 28 x 16oz/500ml bottles TEB010EU = 22.6 x 16oz/500ml bottles TBT043EU = 25 x 16oz/500ml bottles TBM014EU = 19.5 x 16oz/500ml bottles How do you reduce the impact on the environment by producing the EcoSmart range? Through recycling PET for the main material we save 20% of waste water, 50% of energy, and 60% of air pollution compared with production of standard nylon material. Why is the hardware nickel free? The hardware is nickel free so hasn’t had any chemical treatments to finish it and means that it can be recycled at the end of it’s life. Why are magnets used in the case? The magnets selected for these cases are nickel free. Although they cannot be recycled at the end of the lifetime, they can be reused. Either as they are on another product or ground down to be used in hardcore for construction. Do these cases still have a Limited Lifetime Warranty? Yes, these cases have been made from the best materials available in the marketplace.
