Q: I'd like to use my Palm (OS) device -- a Handspring Visor -- to take notes at meetings and write memos. The trouble is that I'm not very good at using the Graffiti handwriting feature, and the virtual keyboard is much too small. Is there a portable keyboard I could get that's both full-size and feels like a regular keyboard?

A: What you're describing sounds like the Stowaway Keyboard from Targus. It's an ingenious contraption that folds up to a size not much bigger than your Visor. When unfolded, it's a full-size keyboard that has the same feel as a keyboard on a laptop computer.

Targus makes Stowaways for just about every personal digital assistant, including models from Handspring, Palm, Sony, HP and Compaq (I think the Palm model is actually a Palm-branded version of the Stowaway). Street prices begin at around $70.
To really get the most out of a Stowaway, you'll need software for writing and editing that works like PC software. A good product in that category is Documents to Go from DataViz, which lets you create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files on your handheld. The standard version is $49.95.
